Castle Brewery (SROP)

The castle brewery, together with the first courtyard, riding hall, stables and the so-called official house, belongs to the property of the City of Litomyšl. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the town hall management has been trying to find a suitable use for the building of the former castle brewery. In the end, we managed to conclude an agreement with the European Alliance YMCA, which carried out educational and training activities here. In addition to social halls, there is accommodation and offices in the reconstructed part. The author of the reconstruction is AP atelier Praha represented by Ing. arch. Josef Pleskot. The main principle of the design of architect Josef Pleskot was to preserve the partially industrial character of the building. This is also the reason why you will find simple lines, doors made of untreated wood, admitted iron reinforcements, etc. On the other hand, you will see architectural elements that are to declare a new function and new use of the building. It is mainly a solution of light access to the building (new and refurbished windows, arched window in the main facade) or a monumental installation in the inner atrium (a combination of glass and steel). On the second floor there is a multi-purpose hall, a residential corridor, facilities, a sauna and the first part of the accommodation. Of the total number of 55 beds, 40 are in the form of a hostel (single to quadruple rooms with bathroom in the hallway) and 15 beds are distributed in a total of eight guest rooms with private facilities. Accommodation is concentrated from the 2nd to the 4th floor. There is also an information center.
