You will encounter Litomyšlení, an interactive family programme on the castle hill, at every step. You can start from anywhere – in the stables, in the tent in front of the café, in the castle park, in the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, but also in the Regional Museum or directly in the castle. The individual stops will gradually take you to the most beautiful and interesting places.
You will be told where to go by a worksheet with a map and tasks for individual stops; the worksheet is available at the box office of the museum, the Piarist Church, the information centre, the castle stables, Bedřich Smetana's birth apartment or the castle box office. If you are really diligent and answer all the questions correctly, you will be rewarded with free entry to the church's observation terrace. So what about starting with a coffee in the Carriage Hall and visiting the school of knights and courtly ladies in the children's tent in front of the café?
During your journey, you will eventually walk through the maze of the history of the castle, peek into the homes of important personalities of Litomyšl, and get to know the life of the nobility and ordinary people, have fun in the castle garden or go up to the angels.
Most parts of the programme are accessible to visitors completely free of charge. Only in the Regional Museum and in Bedřich Smetana's birth apartment, the children's programme is part of the exhibitions; entry is charged according to the price lists of these institutions and is also governed by their opening hours. Most freely accessible places are closed between November and March.
On the map of the Castle Hill, the individual stops of Litomyšlení are highlighted in yellow.
