This city, awarded the title Historical City of the Year in 2000, is a flourishing European city and the birthplace of Bedřich Smetana; it is proud not only of its renaissance castle and its unique baroque theatre (a UNESCO world heritage monument) and its other historical monuments, but also its modern architecture that compares well with its counterparts elsewhere in Europe. The city of Litomyšl and its surrounding area has ideal conditions for the development of congress tourism, for there is a large number of buildings and halls suitable for the organisation not only of smaller business meetings, conferences, symposia, lectures and company events, but also concerts, theatre performances and dinner parties. As well as the excellent technical facilities available, there is also a number of organisations that can help you with the organisation of your congress event and provide you with all the services that you may need. The cultural and historical surroundings of the city and excursions available to its surroundings can make the visit all the more interesting for participants of congress events that are several days in length.

Congress facilities

The Castle Congress Centre   consists of three separate parts: five rooms on the ground floor of Litomyšl castle, five rooms on the second floor, and two fully-equipped halls in the former castle brewery. It is possible to use the parts independently for three separate events, or jointly in such a way that, for example, lectures are held in one part, refreshments in another, and in the third there might be a social event with accompanying programme. The maximum capacity is 360 persons, and the capacity of the largest hall is 180 persons.

YMCA Europe Training Centre   is situated in part of the castle brewery (a UNESCO monument), which is undergoing complete reconstruction. Today three halls and two classrooms are available in the building in which Bedřich Smetana was born in 1824. There is available accommodation with 55 beds in two standatds, day area, fitness room and sauna will be added. The maximum capacity is 400 persons. The capacity of the largest hall is 200 visitors, and the areas within the grounds of the castle can of course be combined.

The Smetana's house  is a building in the art nouveau style on the banks of the River Loučná, and for Litomyšl it acts as a kind of small National Theatre. Two halls, large and small, are available for the organisation of a wide range of activities including balls. The stylish Karlov restaurant is also on the premises. Adjacent to the building is a park with a small stage that is suitable for summer concerts. The maximum capacity is 600 persons. The capacity of the large hall is 500 persons.

The People's house  is a building in the neo-renaissance style with art nouveau and modern elements. Next to the large hall with its original stucco decoration there is a bar and a fully-equipped kitchen. On the ground floor of the building there is a restaurant and billiard hall. The pleasant external seating area is perfect for playing petanque. The maximum capacity of the large hall is 300 persons.

The Kotelna Music Club  is a club that was established ten years ago by the city of Litomyšl in an old boiler house. With its unique interior, excellent lighting and acoustics, it is suitable for special company presentations or seminars, but could also serve as a site for accompanying programmes additional to congress events taking place in other city facilities. The maximum capacity is 250 persons – 10 seated, 150 standing.

The Hotel Zlatá hvězda  is situated in the centre of the city on Smetanovo náměstí. The hotel contains 30 reconstructed rooms with a total capacity of 60 beds, blue and red lounges and a ballroom. For clients’ free time and relaxation there is a sauna, fitness centre and a viewing terrace. The maximum capacity of the two lounges and ballroom is 190 persons. The capacity of the largest ballroom is, combined with the blue lounge, 160 persons.

The Hotel Dalibor  is situated on the banks of the River Loučná not far from the Smetanův dům, and has a capacity of 100 persons. For seminars and company events it is possible to use the restaurant, summer terrace and grill, congress hall and lounge. The maximum capacity of all the rooms is 300 persons. The capacity of the largest hall is 150 persons.

The Pedagogical School Youth Centre  is situated on the edge of the city near the sports ground, swimming pool and forest. The historical centre is 15 minutes’ comfortable walk away. The modern grounds contain two accommodation buildings, a kitchen, dining area, garden, multi-purpose synthetic surface court and a car park for 24 cars. The maximum capacity of the four club houses, halls and multi-purpose dining hall is 290 persons. The capacity of the largest hall is 120 persons.
